Cruise Holidays To Agadir
Overview
Agadir, on first impression, is more modern-looking than many Moroccan ports, with its long, sandy beach and palm-lined boulevards. The whole town was rebuilt after an earthquake in 1960, hence its cosmopolitan feel. Ships dock at the port, some 15-20 minutes’ walk from the downtown area and the best stretch of beach. Taxis wait at the port and are cheap and quick, if you want to go straight to the souk.
Good buys include pottery, copper, brassware, leather and silver, as well as the inevitable carpets. Remember to haggle. Other things to see in town include the Vallee des Oiseaux, a park with a miniature railway and several aviaries. Further afield, excursions operate to Marrakech, a very long drive, or Taroudant, which is closer, stunningly beautiful, much less touristy and a good bet if you’ve already been to Marrakech.
