Cruise Holidays To Antigua
Overview
Antigua claims to have 365 beaches, one for every day of the year. The charming capital, St Johns, has fantastic shopping and is well geared up for handling cruise passengers, with bars, restaurants and attractive shopping centres close to where the ships dock.
Smaller ships may drop anchor at English Harbour, where there are stylish shops, pubs and restaurants to explore, all frequented by the yachting community. Shirley Heights is near here, where there's a fantastic 'jump up' every Sunday, with steel bands, reggae, a barbecue and plenty of rum punch.
Excursions are a mix of sightseeing, perhaps visiting historic Nelson’s Dockyard and English Harbour, or relaxing on the beach, or indulging in some adventure sports. Sea kayaking is particularly good in Antigua, exploring the mangroves and later, snorkelling over some amazing reefs. Most cruise lines also offer sailing trips, or visits to some of the historical forts.
