One of the biggest cruise hubs in the Mediterranean, Barcelona has more than you’ll ever see in a day. Stroll along the Ramblas boulevard, packed with stalls, cafes and street entertainers. Explore the old Gothic Quarter, visit the Picasso Museum and the Miro Foundation and marvel at the bizarre buildings designed by the famous architect, Antoni Gaudi, and his modernist contemporaries, including the amazing Sagrada Famiglia cathedral, still unfinished more than 100 years since its inception.
Ships dock in the huge commercial port, walkable to the bottom of the Ramblas if you’re lucky enough get a berth close to the city centre but better done by taxi if you’re moored at the far end. As well as city tours, one of the most popular excursions is a day trip to the monastery at Montserrat, deep in the mountains. It’s also possible to do more unusual city tours, by bike, or visiting the famous sporting attractions like the Olympic sites and the stadium of FC Barcelona.
