Cruise Holidays To Cuba
Overview
The Republic of Cuba holds a fascination to many cruisers. Only a handful of ships - those not carrying American passengers - call here. Cuba is a communist country and Americans can't visit.
The island is enormous by Caribbean standards - 775 miles long and 118 miles wide, with desert, rainforest and some 300 beaches making up its terrain. Havana is the capital, a wonderful throwback to the 1950s with magnificent crumbling colonial architecture, brilliantly preserved vintage cars and some atmospheric bars and hangouts.
Cruise ships dock at the waterfront terminal in the heart of Old Havana, a short walk from the city centre.
The main activity is walking tours of Old Havana and shopping for the famous cigars, amber, music, fashion, jewellery, art and antiques. You can visit cigar factories, the convents of San Francisco and Santa Clara, and the gardens of the Hemingway museum. Sit in the famous Plaza de Armas and sample daiquiries (invented in Cuba) and mojitos.
