Cruise Holidays To Dominica
Overview
Dominica is green, lush and untamed, with towering mountains, cascading waterfalls and tropical forests. There are no big hotels, casinos or golf courses, and the island is the last refuge of the Carib Indians, who lived here before Columbus discovered the Caribbean 500 years ago.
Ships dock either at Portsmouth in the north (where there is nothing to see, so it’s wise to take an excursion) or Roseau , the capital, within walking distance of the town centre.
Most excursions are geared around eco-tourism, such as the exciting canoe ride along the Indian River (with a delicious rum punch at the end) or the aerial tramway, which skims the treetops and crosses a dramatically deep gorge. You can also go whale-watching, diving, snorkelling or on a jeep safari into the island’s rugged interior.
