Cruise Holidays To Marseille
Overview
Marseille is a busy, working port, resting in the shadow of the craggy mountains of southern Provence and gateway to beautiful cities like Aix-en-Provence and Avignon.
The dock is 15-20 minutes’ drive from the waterfront and Vieux Port, and there are shuttle buses and taxis whenever a cruise ship calls. From the Vieux Port, you can ride on a petit train for an hour-long sightseeing tour, or take a ferry to the Iles du Frioul for a day on the beach. In town, the main shopping street is La Canebiere with lovely architecture, lots of street cafes and many perfume shops. There are a couple of good museums to explore and just off the main street, a colourful Arab market.
While you’re in Marseille, try the bouillabaisse, the famous French fish stew, which originated here.
