Cruise Holidays To Stavanger

Overview

StavangerFounded in the 8th century and one of Norway's oldest towns, Stavanger is situated along an arm of the Stavangerfjord in southwestern Norway. Shipping and canning were two of its main industries for years and you can get a good feel for how life used to be by exploring the cobbled streets of Gamle (Old) Stavanger, lined with beautifully preserved, whitewashed 18th century houses. Other things to see include the Cathedral and the Iron Age Farm.

Pulpit Rock or Preikestolen in Norwegian, near the city, is one of the area’s most visited attractions, a massive, square plateau some 1,300 feet above the sea. You can visit by day trip boat or hike from the city (two hours) if your ship is in port for a full day.
