Cruise Holidays To Valencia

Overview

ValenciaCatalonia is probably best known for its orange groves and paella, but thanks to the America’s Cup Yacht Race in 2007, Spain’s third largest city has been revitalised, resulting in Valencia becoming an important cruise destination. Even the ceramic façades for which the city is renowned have been spruced up.

Ships dock some way from the city centre in Valencia, so a shuttle bus or local taxi is required to reach the principal sights. These include the Aragon Bridge, Bullfight Square, Serrano and Cuart Towers; while in the Old Quarter see the 15th century Lonja, Central Market, Basilica of Our Lady of the Forsaken, and Fallas Market. Enjoy a bike ride along the Turia River bed through delightful gardens to the futuristic architecture of the City of Arts & Sciences.

Tours take passengers to the City of Porcelain – the Lladro Art Centre. Alternatively see the 2,000 year-old village of Sagunto with its narrow streets of La Juderia Quarter. The Fortress Sagunto and the Roman Theatre, built in the 1st century AD are also worth seeing, as are the San Jose caves and subterranean river at Vall d’Uxo.
